It is important that members of the public have opportunities to influence research involving their lives and care. Care home residents are very important stakeholders in our work. We know that it is vital to keep their voices central to what we do, including people that may require additional support to be able to contribute.

While care home residents are very welcome to complete our survey, we are also aware that some may feel less able to engage with an online platform. To ensure that residents can inform and influence PREACH, our research team will work with Activity Providers based in care homes to facilitate discussions and activities with older care home residents about our work. This approach was developed as part of another research project (https://dachastudy.com/) in response to Covid-19, when it became difficult for researchers to go into care homes to speak to residents directly.

We will send resource packs to interested care homes asking residents to think about their own research priorities and what is most important to them. Their responses will be fed into our final priorities alongside those of other members of the public, care providers and researchers.

Getting involved

If you are an Activity Provider interested in taking part with the residents that you support, please contact us at: carehomepriorities@herts.ac.uk
